In this talk, Professor Muhammad Riazul Hamid, PhD presented a case study of the operation and maintenance at the first Solar PV-Battery-Diesel mini-grid at Swandip in Chittagond. The 100 kWp solar plant is in operation since November 2010. Professor Riaz was involved immediately after the commissioning of this plant and took an active part in the operation and maintenance of this project as an engineering advisor. He discussed the background of this project, business model, construction, operation and maintenance challenges. He also covered the schematic design and role of different components of the power plant. He also shared the lessons learned from the operation of this mini-grid with the students. The impact on households and local businesses was presented through a series of photographs of the beneficiaries.
