ETE Study Tour at Bangladesh Atomic Energy Research Establishment (BAERE)
Department of ETE of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), on 25 February 2016 Thursday had arranged Departmental Study Tour for its students to Bangladesh Atomic Energy Research Establishment (BAERE) situated at Savar, Dhaka. ULAB Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) is the only department of the university that arranges such study tours every semester to strengthen the knowledge base of the students.
Nearly 40 students and all the faculty members of the Department along with the Honorable HoD Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim Mazumder attended the study tour. The day long program consisted of touring several research institutions active at BAERE including the Institute of Electronics (IE), Institute of Computer Science (ICS), Energy Institute (EI), Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (INST) etc. Notably, at Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) the students had their chance to see and be briefed about the only VLSI laboratory of Bangladesh as well as observed the hands-on process of cell development at the only industrial Solar cell development lab of the country. Moreover, the Research Nuclear Reactor situated there had also been visited by the students and the respective scientists working there have answered several technical questions aroused by students.
Mr Mahbubul Hoq, the Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Institution of Electronics (IE), BAERE was constantly present with the Faculty delegates during the visit. The ETE Department of ULAB expressed deep interest to collaboratively work in possible student researches with Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE). Mr Mahbubul Hoq and Dr Mazumder discussed possibilities of making a collaborative MoU between the two Institutions to motivate potential researches.
The tour ended with the visit to country’s only particle accelerator situated in Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE), and the group returned back to campus by the evening.
