ULAB ETE organizes seminar on “ An Overview of Advanced Material Characterization Techniques: Optical and Electron Microscopy”
The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering organized a seminar on “ An Overview of Advanced Material Characterization Techniques: Optical and Electron Microscopy” on April 12, 2016. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Anisuzzaman, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh.
Prior to joining ULAB in 2015, Dr. Anisuzzaman was an assistant professor in the department of Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering (now EEE) of Dhaka University. Dr. Anisuzzaman completed his Ph.D. from Kyushu University of Japan in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2013 and his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the department of Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering of Dhaka University in 2005 and 2006, respectively. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University Technology Malaysia from 2014 to 2015. His research specialization is on group IV semiconductor material processing and nano-fabrication techniques. His research interest also include thin film inorganic and organic photovoltaic materials, functional oxides, and graphene based devices.
In the talk Dr. Anisuzzaman initially described about the importance of different microscopy techniques for material research. Then he extended his talk to the technicalities of different kinds of microscopes and their use in material characterization. The main types of microscopes Dr. Anisuzzaman described about were- Optical Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). He compared practical images taken by the microscopes described and contrasted the quality and resolution of them. He encouraged the students present at the seminar to take part in ongoing related researches, where for material characterization these instrumental arrangements are used.
A brief question-answer session was held in conclusion, with the participation of faculties, students and guests with the speaker in a cordial atmosphere.
Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim Mazumder, Head of the Department, ETE, along with students and other faculties of Department were present in the seminar. At the end of the seminar Dr. Mazumder extended his sincere thanks and congratulations to the speaker for his excellent and scholarly presentation on the topic.
